Tony Bruno earned his private pilot’s license at North Philadelphia airport before entering Navy flight school in Pensacola. Five and a half years of active duty included a tour with VR-24 in Naples Italy, flying the Grumman C-1A on and off eight different carriers of the Sixth Fleet. After the Navy, he flew corporate aircraft for AT&T based in Morristown, NJ.
His airline career began in 1979 with a couple of years at United Airlines and then 27 years with USAirways. Starting as a Flight Engineer on the B-727 and DC-8, he flew as Captain on the B-737, A-320, B-757, and as an International Check Airman on the B-767. Since retiring from the airlines, Tony has been an instructor and examiner with Flight Safety International on the Gulfstream 550 and 650. He currently flies contract trips on the G-650 and Pilatus PC-12. In 2018, he was a recipient of the Wright Brother’s “Master Pilot” Award by the FAA. Tony volunteers as curator of the Dare County Airport Museum and as a Mentor to the First Flight High School Aviation Program. He lives with his wife Sheri and their dog Henley, in Kitty Hawk, NC. They have three grown sons and four grandchildren.
